Webelos Camp is a 3 day/2 night camp for all Webelos Scouts going into 4th and 5th grade. Webelos Camp is optional, but strongly recommended, since parts of several activity pins can be earned at camp. Camp grounds are located at Theodore Naish Scout Reservation in Bonner Springs, Kansas. Fees: 2008 fee was $105 for 3 days. A $30 per attendee deposit is due in mid-January and the balance is paid at March registration. Any Parent that wishes to join his Scout for the 3-day camp must be a registered with the pack ("on the charter"). This form is available from the Registration Chairperson. Parents will be charged the regular 3-day Adult fee-$105, if the necessary paperwork is completed at registration. Parents wishing to attend camp must pay their own fees. Part time attendance for parents is possible. Note that a part time day is charged for each day or any part of a day, so someone coming Friday evening and staying through Saturday would count as two part time days, even though they might be there for less than 24 hours. Financial Aid is available for Scouts that qualify --forms are available at registration. The Webelos leaders or parent Camp Coordinator must pay all collected funds by the early May deadline to avoid late fees. Scouts will choose their own tent partner if they can all do so without excluding someone. (It is highly recommended that the Scouts have another scout, not their parent, as a tent partner.) They will sleep on cots in perma-tents. Scouts will depart from the St. Elizabeth parking lot. Scouts will leave from the parking lot in full (Class A Uniform). Scouts need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow, packed together in a big yellow trash bag for rain protection. A detailed listing of other recommended items to bring will be given to parents at a pre-camp planning meeting. During their first year as Webelos, the Scouts will each make a wooden camp box that will be used to bring all their gear to camp. (Keep gear to a minimum! It’s a long walk to the campsite and wooden camp boxes get heavy for the Scouts to carry!) Scouts bring their blue uniform shirt and plaid neckerchief. They will also need a white 100% cotton T-shirt to tie-dye. All clothing should be labeled with scouts name and pack 4150. Hiking boots or other sturdy shoes should be worn at camp. Sandals may be worn only in the swimming pool area. On the final day at 5:30, all Webelos parents and siblings are invited to come and join the Scouts at the campsite for a Pack 150 Family ‘Pot Luck’. Each family needs to bring cold drinks, a covered dish, cups, plates and silverware and contribute to the fund to purchase fried chicken. The cost is minimal at $5.00 per family. After the dinner, a closing ceremony is held at the outdoor stage area of the campgrounds. ALL Webelos, and their families, should attend the after-dinner presentation to show appreciation to the Boy Scouts that have served as Camp Counselors. After the ceremony, the Scouts leave for home with their family. Parents signed up as the Webelo Camp Coordinators will attend the Webelo Camp Draw in January and will need to attend any leader orientation training given by the Council office. The coordinators will also need to make contact with the Boy Scout Troop 150 leaders to determine what items should be brought to camp and then returned to the scout room. (In 2008 we borrowed two dutch ovens, two drink coolers, first aid kit, and red wagon.) An orientation for all parents and Webelos will be given by the Webelos Camp Leader one month before camp begins. The session includes a question and answer session and a handout of all relevant information. Camp dates will be determined by a lottery drawing on January (??), 2009.
