Introduction to Cub Scouting

In Cub Scouting, boys, families, leaders, and chartered organizations work together to achieve the following objectives:
  • To influence a boy’s character development and spiritual growth.
  • To help boys develop habits and attitudes of good citizenship.
  • To encourage good sportsmanship and pride in growing strong in mind and body.
  • To improve understanding within the family.
  • To strengthen a boy’s ability to get along with others.
  • To help boys foster a sense of personal achievement by developing new interests and skills.
  • To provide fun and exciting things to do.
  • To show a boy how to be helpful and do one’s best and prepare him to be a Boy Scout.

Each parent signs up for at least one pack job, or a job will be assigned to you for a minimum of 2 pack jobs per family. Please reserve time on your calendar for this commitment to your son. If something occurs that will make it impossible for you to complete a function, please find a substitute for your obligation. See Parent Responsibilities (add link) for more information.

St. Elizabeth’s Cub Pack and Boy Scout Troop are part of the largest and oldest in the city. St. Elizabeth’s Boy Scout Troop was chartered in 1929 and St. Elizabeth’s Cub Scout Pack 150 was chartered in 1939! Because of THE COMMITMENT OF EACH PARENT, it is also one of the best run and organized Packs. Beyond the guidance your son receives at home and at school, there is perhaps no greater influence on his character and development.

Parent Responsibilities

When a boy and his family join, parents also must make several commitments:

1. Take responsibility for Den meetings for at least one month, annually.

2. Volunteer for AT LEAST one Pack job (per person) or 2 per family and fulfill the jobs for which you have volunteered. Please find a substitute if you cannot honor your commitments.

3. Attend all Pack meetings (usually last Monday of month) with your child to show your support. Pack meeting dates are noted in the calendar.

4. Please bring your ideas and come to the Friends of St. Elizabeth (FOSE) monthly planning meetings! These meetings are usually held on Monday night, usually 2 weeks prior to the Pack meeting.

5. ALL PARENTS are responsible for planning Pack activities since all are members of Friends of St. Elizabeth (FOSE)

6. ASK QUESTIONS! Cubmaster, Bob Murray can answer most questions. Contact information is located on the Pack Leadership page of this site, viewable after logging in with a valid user name and password. Thank you for your ministry of service. We are looking forward to another fun and exciting year!

As older cub scouts, the Webelos are transitioning to Boy Scouts. They'll begin to memorize the Boy Scout Oath, Law, Motto and Slogan.
